Welcome to what I hope will be an open, free-wheeling, and meaningful conversation about the first white paper that you recently received in your mail box! I will soon start posting sections of the first paper and making additional comments, but until then, please feel free to share with me and others your comments, suggestions, and questions regarding the first white paper and the future of the Zen Center!

The Future of the San Francisco Zen Center

Welcome to a conversation about the future of the San Francisco Zen Center initiated by a series of "white papers" written by Zen Center President, Robert Thomas.

The intention of the white paper series is to foster a deeper community-wide understanding of Zen Center's key organizational needs at this particular point in its evolution as one of the West's largest Buddhist communities.

In this blog we hope to support an on-going conversation about how over the course of the coming years the Zen Center community will continually evolve to successfully meet its needs and offer its important mission, "...to embody, express, and make accessible, the wisdom and compassion of the Buddha," to the world.

Each paper and the corresponding blog posts will present one of five areas of critical need in detail, sharing significant background information regarding proposed directions of development and change, while also highlighting key initiatives that will be receiving attention and resources in the coming years.
